Green Oak

Green Oak or Fresh Sawn Oak is a type of timber that is cut fresh from the log within the last 3 months. This material ranges in colour from pale pink to honey-hued, and over time weathers to a light grey. Oak has a vast range of uses from buildings to pergolas, fencing to cladding, raised beds to fence posts from lintels to fireplaces. Each piece will be unique to you and will add character and longevity to any project.

We realise that the most important thing to you is both the speed of turnaround and the quality of the product, so we offer both. We offer an onsite cutting service so we can control the quality. It also means we can react quickley to prepare an order when it is needed.

If the lead time isnt so important we work with European partner mills to keep the costs down whilst still working to a top quality.

Here at Yandles, we specialise in cutting Green Oak on-site in our fully-functioning sawmill hosting a log saw and resaw. We don't scrimp on quality either. With over 90 years of experience among our sawmill managers; each order is personally selected, cut and checked. Whether it is an oak frame, gate post, or oak lintels, we always ensure it meets our high standards.

We also offer in-house grading for when you need a structural guarantee on your oak. We can grade our structural oak beams and posts to BS 5756 and THA/B in large section sizes and TH1/2 in small section sizes. We also have an on-site hand planing service to achieve that special finish. Please note all graded and planed orders are made to order and planing is ex the stated sizes.
