"I buy a hefty amount from Yandles. Having looked around they are the most competitive for online ordering I can’t say I have experienced any issues if they are slightly undersized I haven’t noticed enough to think it an issue. And as explained in the blurb, 2 inches may not be exactly two inches. "

"The poorest quality I’ve ever had from Yandles. I purchased four 6 x 2 and three 5 x 2 blanks. They were all poorly cut with single blanks ranging anywhere between 1 1/2 inches running to 1 3/4 and sometimes closer to 2inches on the same blank, so a real pain to true up. I think there was one was actually round, all of the others were oval in form. I can’t be bothered to go to the sycamore page to put a review up, but I purchased the exact same number of blanks and they were not any better. I totally get that you’re unlikely to get a 2 inch thick blank because of the processing, but these were truly very poor indeed. Maybe two stars is being generous."

We do request our Timber Sizing Guidelines to be read before purchasing our Timber Turning Blanks as the sizes can vary by up to 1/4" per piece: Timber Sizing Guidelines Please note the sizes displayed are approx. Due to timber coming from all over the world starting thicknesses vary up to 1/4“ depending on the origin. We use the umbrella guides of 1”,1.5”, 2”, 3” & 4”, but please be aware that all planks are planed one face to highlight the grain and to allow us to see faults which can result in under thickness. This can result in planks being under the thickness depending on the starting thickness. For example, Oak 2” is normally 2.1/8th before we plane which allows 2” thickness after we plane and 2x2 spindles or blanks. Native Ash is often 17/8th to 2” after drying and before we plane. This can plane to 1.75” and result in 1.75”x2” spindles. Whilst we always try and maintain the thickest board possible, sometimes it can be undersize. If you require a finished size of 2x2 we recommend purchasing a larger blank such as 3x3 & machining this back yourself."

"The wood is great, but the marker pen you used to write the price on is a nightmare as it soaks deep into the wood and requires significant sanding to remove to the point that it creates a noticeable dip in the wood where you have sanded it off. Please can you use stickers in future?"

Bowl blanks- E.G 6x2 = Sizes in inches Spindle blanks- E.G 2x2x600 = 2x2 in inches x 600mm in length

Timber Sizing Guidelines
